Re: Looking for Furlong Family, descendants of Mariah J Sweeney and Philip M Ryan NJ
Your reply is as I suspected as far as Nellie is concerned.I wasnt sure but thought nellie might be and an aka for Helen.
I havent spoken with my mom yet to question whether or not her mother was known as Bessie, however, and I found this to be rather interesting. If I follow the name, on her mother's side Maria J Sweeney, I believe I have found a link through the LDS site.John Sweeney ie.Maria's father? married a Bessy McBride Maria's mother?Circa dates fit and it certainly would explain where the nickname Bessy came from. Its a lead.At any rate, those names are from Ireland not here. Now to wait for Maria's death certificate to see if the parents info is on it to confirm it.
I am sort of behind an eight ball though as I do not have access to any of my files. My laptop and my desktop both crashed, one was hacked and hijacked two weeks ago rendering both useless. My FTM files and all the newest research was lost.I kept a floppy back up copy but had not entered any of the new info into yet.
I too, have family back to colonial days, my mom's father our PATTERSON line from Howell Township, Monmouth Cty, NJ.I have it back to 1782 with a William J Patterson circa 1782 married a Esther Lipponcott? My brother and I are eagerly trying to get beyond that to at least 1725.If we can connect the dots to all the other area Pattersons we will be able to be members of Monmouth Counties Founding Fathers Genealogy Group. My entire family still lives in Monmouth Cty today.
Thanks again for the sure leads ...
