It's a bit strange that he wouldn't show up in the census.
If he was from texas like the articles says'.
I guess they were kind of the gansters of the day.
Using mafia methods to intimidate witnesses .
So im wondering if he perhaps bribed some city officials members of the Jury etc.
Or threatened them .
Because I dont think it would be possible to get so low a sentence otherwise, especially with Milton being shot in the back . And the fact that there were witnesses top that effect .
I suppose he would have been hanged if convicted of murder?
