I know it's been many yrs since your dad died, and you never really knew him, but how very tragic.He must've been a very troubled person.It would appear something happened between Jan and Apr to cause his demotion from Sgt to Pvt, and possibly his decision to end his life.

I don't know where you requested the military info, but they must have duplicate files elsewhere.There are several repositories.

I did find he was older than stated.
Fold3....His NY Nat'l Guard ID card lists his b/date...11-14-1907, and has another card with his fingerprints; he was 6' 1".
