I'm up in Bellingham. I was not aware of any historians on Bainbridge.I have written to the Kitsap Genealogical Society twice, but never got any response. How would I contact the historians?Do you have an address?
This line has been quite a surprise to me.My mother is a descendent of Reuben's daughter Emily Sarah. She married in MN in 1851 and moved to LA in about 1861.Her son Edward Copeland (Coplin) eventually came to WA, but not until about 1890.Reuben was listed in the 1850 Ramsey Co, MN census, but disappeared after that.A little over a year ago I started helping a friend do some reseach in Clark Co & discovered Reuben's son Andrew Jackson, daughter Mary Jane HAYDEN & brother-in-law Sumner BARKER living there in 1860.Came as quite a shock to find a donation land grant on Bainbridge for Reuben.None of the family knew he even left MN.Then in reading info on the land claim it states his wife (Rhoda BARKER) had died before 1854 & he was killed by Indians in 1859.Luckily his children were listed in 1854 and then on a note about his death in 1859.However since his wife died before 1854, I'm wondering if he might of remarried. Also is any of his children might of moved to Bainbridge or Kitsap Co with him.
Again thanks for the help.
