Re: Any Info on Christopher Belen (or Balen) - mid 1800's
Below is a combination of what Alison found and what is posted on the internet. I have not verified the online tree, so that would be the next step.
S U M M A R Y
This original spelling of the Belen name may have been Behlen.
Christopher BELEN was born about 1827 in Prüm (?), son of George Belen and Anna Mary Rincoln. He died 28 April 1917 in Ionia County, Michigan.
Margaretha BOLTZ was born about 1830 in Kinzenburg (Kinzenburg in Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany?). She was daughter of Eva (illegible) and Fred Boltz. Fred's name in Prussia would be Fredrick or Friedrich or similar. Margretha died 01 January 1906 in Ionia County, Michigan, USA.
Their children (? I haven't checked this list):
Fredrick Belen born 1854
Peter Belen born 1860
John Belen born 1862
Mary Belen born 1863
Anna Belen born 1865
Mathias Belen born 1866
Nikolaus Belen born 1868
Eva Belen born in Kinzenburg 1870
Elizabeth Belen born 26 Sep 1872
Theresia Belen 26 Sep 1872 [twins]
Christopher Belen born 1876
The family departed Glasgow and arrived port of New York in 1871 on the Caledonia (?). They lived in Westphalia, Ionia County, Michigan, USA.
I made the above summary for your convenience next time you post a query on this family. You can add to it. Such a summary more completely identifies who "your" family is.
