I have a Jacob Mohr b Switzerland d 1875 Racine, WI and his wife Anna Catharina Unknown b abt 1823 Switzerland d 1896 Racine, WI.The had a daughter (my gg grandmother)Agnes Mohr b 1850 (migrated to US abt 1866)Switzerland m 1878 in Racine, WI to George C. Kerner/Koerner and d in Racine 1922. Other known children of Jacob and Anna Mohr are Chris (maybe Christian)who m Unknown wife and had a daughter named Edith Mohr,Andrew who married Sophie Kuhn and had sons Clarence Andrew and Ralph. The migrated to Fresno, CA and ran a grape vineyard. Lucy Mohr who married William Fuller, they also went to Fresno, CA. They all spoke fluent German.
George C. Kerner mentioned above was b 1853 in WI (possibly Ozaukee County) and d 1929 in Florida while visiting his daughter Minnie Jones. Minnie resided in Racine, but had a Summer home in Melbourne, FL. George is buried in Racine, where he had lived most of his life. The name is often found in records as Koerner. George's parents were Fredrick C.Kerner b 1807 Weurttemberg/Württemberg, Germany, emigrated to US in 1832 from Mecklenburg, Germany and died in the US Civil War, and Dorthea Unknown b Jun 1812 emmigrated to US in 1849 and died 1905 in Racine. Children of Fredrick and Dorthea Kerner are
1 George C. b 1853 WI (mentioned above) who married Agnes Mohr. George and Agnes had three children, Clarence Andrew Kerner, Minnie Dorothy Kerner and Warren Theodore Kerner.
2. Theodore b 1855 WI m Lucy Unknown bef 1877 had one known child named George b 1877 WI (probably Milwaukee)m 2nd Belle H. Unknown 1897 in WI and had 2 children Charles b 1898 WI and Florence b 1906 WI.
3. Rosina "Rose" b 1857 WI
4. There were 2 other children living with Fredrick and Dorthea in the 1860 Graften, Ozaukee, WI Census named Friedrick or Fredrick age 14 b Delaware and William age 9 b WI. Friedrick or Fredrick was born in Delaware, 3 years before Dorthea was in the US. I am not sure if these are Fredrick's children or some other relatives. Neither of these boys were on the 1870 census with Dorthea widow of Fredrick Kerner. I have not yet found the family in the 1850 census. On the 1900 census, Dorthea claims to have had 3 children, 3 still alive.Perhaps Dorthea was Fredrick's 2nd wife and Fredrick was a widower with 2 children.
If anyone knows of this family I would love to share information and compare notes.thank you, Lynda Campbell email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
