Here is my Abbott Puzzle.I am looking for any and all information about Abbott’s from Tennessee. I know for fact that Ora Abbott was born on June 13, 1911 in Vestal, TN and married Nina Mae Hawkins on July 20, 1940 in Knox Co., TN his siblings are with spouses: James Harrison Abbott September 21, 1892 Married Ruby Daniel Nora Elizabeth Abbott July 21, 1894 married George Daniels Nancy Paralee Abbott November 25, 1895 Hugh Edgar Abbott June 20, 1897 married Ethel Tlytha Vandergriff Edith Viola Abbott April 23, 1899 married Charlie Hammock George Francis Abbott September 01, 1901 married Minerva Madalene Matlock Alberta Mae Abbott May 30, 1904 Lula Jane Abbott May 11, 1907 married Robert Reed McDaniel Joseph Clarence Abbott October 14, 1908 married Ada Leoni Berlitz McClain
Their Parents were: Samuel Abbott born: March 14, 1869 Sevier Co., TN Married Cynthia Louiza Hicks born: February 11, 1869 Sevier Co., TN
Now a little more sketchy information is this… Samuel Abbott’s mother was Elizabeth Abbott, maiden name not know and who she married and when is not know. But this I know about her at this time. She gave birth to Martha J. Abbott about 1863 George Abbott about 1866 Samuel Abbott 1869
This is all according to the Census of 1870 in Sevier Co., TN. She was living with James McKenyon (McKinyon) he was married to Mary J. and theyhad a child who was born that same year named Nancy E.
Now in 1880 Census Elizabeth moved to Cocke Co., TN. She was then living with A.U. Inmanand Martha J. who married by this time and had a child sonwho was 6 months old. Elizabeth Abbott was living there as a mother in law and was widowed. Geo Abbott was there as son in law. Samuel Abbott was there as son in law. There was baby born was a son with the last name of Abbott that was only 1 month old not named yet!
As most of us know there are no census for the 1890’s and I do not have immediate access to the 1900 Census or the soundex for this year and state.
