I have a great great grandfather Charles Abbott who settled in Ferris Illinois. It is my understanding that he and his wife were part of a waggon train heading west and that his wife was very near giving birth when they cam through this area and settled here rather than continue on.I have seen in the history and plat books that he came here from Ohio in about 1840 and was a farmer and the mayor of Ferris. He was one of the first settlers in Ferris and acquired the family farm in about 1866 or 67.It has been in the family ever since.I have some other basic info on decendants if you are interested. If you have any information prior to 1840 I would like to receive it.As all I know is that they came here from OHIO.
