Got your message.Yes, I received more info on Prudence's family from James Mackey of Sevierville, TN who said the info came from a family Bible in the hands of a descendant of John Mackey, son of Joseph, brother of Prudence.I haven't verified much of the information myself.
It is said that Prudence was born Feb. 16, 1757 in Staten Island, NY, died in Columbia Co., PA and is buried at the Old Stone Church with her husband Jacob, who was born 1750 in Sussex Co., NJ and d. 1840 Columbia Co., PA.
Prudence's father was William Mackey born in Londonderry, N. Ireland and d. Aug. 8, 1764 Sussex Co., NJ (Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., NJ).Her mother was said to be Mary Mitchell born Oct 22, 1714 in Staten Island, NY.Siblings were Mary Mackey b. Dec. 14, 1733, John Mackey b. Oct. 22, 1734, William Mackey b. Mar. 24, 1736/37, Alice Mackey b. Apr. 24, 1739, Joseph Mackey April 12, 1741, Susannah Mackey b. Aug. 13, 1745, Richard Mackey, b. May 1, 1748, Mary Mackey b. July 15, 1754, Prudence Mackey b. Feb. 16, 1757.William's father was a Presbyterian minister.William came to America in 1730.A will of a "William Mackey" of Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., NJ might be his.The will is dated August 29, 1764 with a Mary Mackey as administrator.Relationship between William and Mary is unknown.Could be wife or daughter or daughter-in-law.William's wife, Mary Mitchell's parents were John Mitchell and Alice Stout.
William's father was said to be John Mackey and mother Susannah Williams. It is believed, John Mackey married Susannah Williams in what is known as Northern Ireland today. Both are believed to have birthdates before aprox. 1680 as their son William was born in 1700 in Londonderry and came to America from there in 1730.(Information on DAR application of Mabel Cora Augusta Jarret #120407.)Would be reasonable to assume both were born in Ireland. It is unknown if they remained there or also came to America. It is also unknow if there were any other children.
So the Joseph you found would be Prudence's brother which would make more sense in view of the age difference. As I said I've never verified any of this info myself but it's a place to start if you would like to work further on the family.Best of luck and if you come up with anything new I'd appreciate it very much if you keep in touch. Best regards,
