I am chasing WATTS/WATS/WATT/WATSON of Buncombe (later Haywood) County, NC. Abbott is NOT(!) my line, but thought this ABBOTT tidbit could prove interesting for you
Levi ABBOTT (1814-1885)of Buncombe County, NC, married in 1833 Haywood Co, NC Theodocia "Docia" HENDERSON.
Levi's sister Susan Martha Anderson ABBOTT (1829-1912) married David M. WATTS (Sr.)
Now....strange twist in that "my" ancestor Levi Watts (b. 1829) and older siblings were found living during the 1830's to 1840's in Hall - Lumpkin Counties of Georgia. By 1849 had obtained Bounty Land for their military services in Blount County, Alabama (which later became parts of Winston, Cullman, and Walker Counties).
Trying to connect MY Alabama WATTSes with David M. WATTS. BTW. David and wife Susan named a daughter Theodocia/Docia WATTS. To me, it looks as if your William ABBOTT b. 1838 in Lumpkin Co, GA is the son of Levi WATTS (and nephew to Susan ABBOTT WATTS). Just my opinion....
I hope this information proves helpful to you in some way,
J. Spaulding
