Hello!
Sarah Abercrombie who married Floyd Ruth was my aunt.Sarah had two younger brothers, Samuel Lynn Abercrombie (my father who was born in 1916) and Thomas Melvin Abercrombie, both now deceased and both wives now deceased.Sarah and Floyd moved to Phoenix, Arizona and lived there for the last half if not more of her life, but her son is still living and in Wheeling, WV.
Sarah's, Samuel Lynn's, and Thomas Melvin's father was Edward Lynn Abercrombie.Sarah's, Samuel Lynn's, and Thomas's mother was Rosetta ANDERSON Abercrombie.Edward Abercrombie's father was Samuel Abercrombie (my father's grandfather whose name he took).Samuel Abercrombie's father was William Abercrombie (b 1798) Washington County, PA to Marshall County, PA).William Abercrombie's father was James Abercrombie (Washington County, PA.)James' wife was Margaret.I believe James and Margaret had come to Washington County, PA from Eastern PA in the late 1700s.
Sarah's, Samuel Lynn's, and Thomas's father (Edward Lynn Abercrombie) died in a coal mine accident when my father, Samuel Lynn, was only (around) 7 years old or so.(I might need to recheck to see just how old he was, but he was pretty little.)Sarah would have been slightly older at the time and Thomas Melvin slighly younger than my father).Their mother died when her dress caught on fire while cooking on the fireplace when my father was approximately 9 years old.Unfortunately, as young as they were and not able to do anything to help, Sarah and my father, Samuel Lynn, both children at the time, saw their mother, Rosetta, burn to death. With both parents gone, the children were orphans. The three children, Sarah, Samuel Lynn, and Thomas were split when Rosetta died, but they did keep in touch and had sibling bonds even in their old age and until their death(s).
Sarah was raised by Katherine McDonald Anderson and Charles Anderson, Rosetta's brother. They lived on a hill in Roney's Point near Wheeling, WV.In his adult years, Thomas Melvin lived below Wheeling, in Benwood I believe. My father, Samuel Lynn, spent his years in the Wheeling (Ohio County), WV area, although he and my mother moved to Cadiz (Harrison County) Ohio for the last dozen or so of his years.Sarah died in Phoenix, Arizona, I believe.
I do not believe I have much, if any, information on the other two you mentioned in your post (Catherine and Mary), but if I can help you more with Sarah or the others in her line, feel free to email me at [email protected] .I love my family!
