I have looked at all of your referenced postings, but don't see any actual documentration proving some of your conclusions about my proven ancestor, Colvill Abercrombie, born 4 Oct. 1762 and died abt. 1847 in Laurens Co., SC. as a son of Colvill Abercrombie.
The only Colvill Abercrombie found in early records of Laurens Co., SC. are my proven ancestor, Colvill Abercrombie of birth and death dates given herein and his son, Colvill Abercrombie, Jr. born 4 Oct. 1793 Laurens Co., SC. and died 26 Aug. 1838 Henry Co., GA. and is buried in the Babb Family Cemetery in Henry Co., GA..
For my proven ancestor, Colvill Abercrombie, to have been a son of Colvill Abercrombie, seems to me the early records of Laurens Co., SC. would include some mention of that Colvill Abercrombie??Do you have any document, Will, Deed,Court, etc. even suggesting the possibility of your conclusion???
Unless and until you are forthcoming with some actual documentation or other substantial evidence in support of your conclusion, I will continue to persuaded by the early church minutes of the Rabun Creek Baptist Church, (Colvill Abercrombie) and that John Abercrombie (c.1736-1816) buried in the Rabun Creek Baptist Church Cemetery are very likely John the father and Colvill his son.
You might also take a look at posting #105 by Ralph L. Abercrombie.About the only obvious erriors I can see in that posting is about service in the Civil War and being buried in Henry Co., GA.It was Colvill Abercrombie, Jr. (1793-1838) that is buried in Henry Co., GA.
Colvill Abercrombie, Jr. (1793-1828) and wife Sara Mahaffey did have a son named Colvill Abercrombie, born 8 Sept. 1831 and died 5 Dec. 1863.Perhaps he was the Colvill Abercrombie that served during the Civil War??
By the way my proven ancestor, Colvill Abercrombie, (1762-1847) made his Last Will and Testament on 21 Sept. 1837 in Laurens Co., SC.I do have a copy of that original document in which among others he included the name of his daughter Mary, wife of Hiram Sims. They, Hiram Sims and wife Mary (Abercrombie) Sims are my proven GGG Grandparents.Proven by actual documentation. They too were members of the Rabun Creek Baptist Church and included in the early minutes of that church.
