The FIRST son of James Abercrombie would have been named most likely after his father.Most Abercrombie researchers agree that James had at least three sons...John, James and Isaac.As previously stated, I am of the opinion James had at least two additional sons...Thomas (probably died young) and Colvill.Since the names "Colvill" and "Isaac" do not repeat with any frequency in Abercrombie birth names after 1775, I would not think either name would be that of James' father.Further, I would eliminate James due to his 1740 birth.John's birth is apparently 1736.I know various researchers show John's birth as 1742.But, the 1742 date appears to be the date John Abercromby (Novia Scotia) "first appeared" in the records of North America.I still feel strongly regarding a "Thomas" as being James' father and/or grandfather (see previous posts).The name "John" is another name possibility for James' father.To be continued...
