Closest I seem to be able to find with regard to James Obie Sims is in my binder for William Sims and wife, Loranor /Laura [maiden name unknown to me].
I don't know if what I've found is about the same James Obie Sims. However, he is the only Obie Sims I've found in my files.
The following is a brief excplination of how I found Obie Sims.I don't know if his name was actually James Obie Sims and possibly just went by Obie Sims.
William Sims (c.1739 - c.1790?) & wife Loranor / Laura
William Sims (c.1765 - c.1789?) & wife Esther Kellett
William Sims (1787 - aft. 1850) & wife Elizabeth Terry
James Sims (1820 - 1892) & wife Susan Oewns Note: I show that James & susan had eleven (11) children, but other than names and approximate dates of birth, I've names of mates for only two of the eleven.
Obie Sims (c.1880 - ?) and wife unknown?
As you know William Sims (c.1739 - c.1790?) & wife Loranor / Laura were the parents also of our ancestor Clayborn Sims (c. 1760 - c.1812).
My book about Laurens County Wills, Bonds and Deeds does not come further forward than about 1820.Therefore, Can't check there for 1827 - 1829.I do know that Colvill Abercrombie and Hiram Sims were both members of the Rabun Creek Baptist Church in the time frames of 1827 - 1829. I've only a two page listing of early members of the Rabun Creek Baptist Creek Church and don't see therein names of Davis or Watkins. Therefore, providing certain goods for the minor child may or may not have been church membership related. To me, it does seem possible that as church members Colvill & Hiram might have agreed to provide certain goods to said Peggy Watkins for the upkeep of a minor child??
Let me know what you think about Obie Sims possibly being the same person as James Obie Sims.It he is the same person, I will add to my file that he was married to Millie Myrtle Summerall.
