The letter (transcribed due to age)was found among my g-grandmothers possessions. The letter is signed "Robt. Abernethy."There are other letters signed by "Robert H. Abernathy" and "Robt. Abernethy, Jr." so the spelling changes within this family.I know that my grandfather spelled his name Abernethy and my father changed the spelling to Abernathy. The letter from Robt. Abernethy dated March 22nd, 1840 from Lincoln County, N. Carolina refers to your ancestor. These are some excepts: "Samuel and family left here about 15th of last month for Fayette Courthouse, Fayette County, Alabama where he resides, has gained an extensive practice, cleared in 10 months 1800 dollars, has fine im... in the town." and later "This is Sat. the 28th, and since I wrote the above, I was informed that Samuel's wife was delivered of girl on the road to Alabama about the first of the month and on the 14th departed this life, left Samuel in bad... and three children to take care of until he can reach home."If you will send me your e-mail address, I will be glad to type this letter to you in the entirety or mail you a copy of the trascription that I have.Lynn Abernathy Brown, firstname.lastname@example.orgP.S.I just returned yesterday from visiting Abernethy, Scotland. It was a great experience.
