Source: "Marriage and Death Notices, Grenville SC newspapers, 1826-1863", Author: Brent Holcomb:
"Died at the residence of Mrs. Jane Mauldin, in Pickens District, S. C., on the morning of the 14th inst., Mrs. Louisa L. Abernathy, aged 31 years, formerly of Lincoln County, North Carolina, but for the last two years of Fayette C. R., Alabama. The deceased with her husband, Dr. Samuel B. Abernathy, and family had spent the winter in North Carolina, and on their return to Alabama was taken ill on the road. She lingered for three weeks.… She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years. She has left an affectionate husband and three small children to mourn her departure. The Lincolnton, N. C., Papers are requested to copy the above (ibid.)."
Sorry, for some reason I don't have a page number where that's found in Brent's book, but it shouldn't bee all that hard to find. As my database indicates her probable birth in Mecklenburg County NC, you might check there for marriage records. Circa 1830-ish, I'd guess, since the Fayette AL census indicates a birth abt 1835 for her eldest child, William.
