Let me introduce my self.My legal name is Everett Marshall Abernathy, son of Everett Sullivan Abernathy (born 9/17/1886, died 7/7/1963) son of Alonzo L. Wife #3 was Mary Smith married 1 Sep 1839.From this marriage came what we believe is our line of geneology.Mary Smith our Great Grandmother gave birth to 7 children we believe. They were Elizabeth Abernathy b 1841, Martha Galphira Abernathy b abt 1843, Columbus Abernathy b abt 1846, Charles Oliver Abernathy b. abt. 1849, Alonzo L. We believe our line continues back to Robert Abernathy V who was we believe was the Father of Joseph Abernathy.Robert V b. 27 Mar 1742 Brunswick, Virginia died 22 Mar 1832 in Beaties, Ford, Lincoln, N.C. he was married to Ann Nance on or abt. 1764 in Brunswick, Virginia. If this is true, than the line we believe, continues back to Robert IV & his wife Sara Abernathy (b in Scotland somewhere) abt 1720 (don't know her maiden name).than back to Robert III & his wife Mary Harwell, Robert II & his wife Christine Tilghman& Robert I & his wife Sarah Cubishe and possibly to George Abernathy De Barrie b abt 1588 in Scotland.Of course based on our limited search we need to solidify the correct line.
That is where we are hoping to get some assistance from some that have been doing so many searches over the years.I currently am 70 years old and want to leave my family a legacy of at least one side of our genealogy.
I noticed on some of the msg's that you appear to be extremely knowledgablere; the Abernathy vintage.Anyone else can chime in also. What I have seen thus far seems to go in many direction but I haven't seen much re; the Abernathy's in the Perry, Cape Girardeau, Co. Missouri area.My Sister & Brother have also gotten bits and pieces that my Father had other siblings that we never heard about.
Any help in deciphering all of the above would be greatly appreciated. Please forgive the rambling on but I am new at this even at my age.Something we should have done years ago.
Thank you in advance for an expeditious reply.
Everett M. "Gene" Abernathy (Gene is a nickname that I go by).
BTW, would be glad to share our continuing family story & history if anyone is interested.
