The ones that Moved to TN possible they are related to us. I cant get out of Burke to tell you where all our lines came out of Though I know some of them did not originate out of NC. I do know the Setzers came from Germany to PA to Rowan. The Shells from Maryland to NC. The Shells also German. Im sure they traveled with others
I have people in my Wilkes lines that came out of Brunswick VA to the Orange/Granville/Chatham NC area and then move to western NC.
Our Martins we know have been in Burke since land Grant records were record 1770's. They could be related to those in wake. We are having a real tough time with the Martins because many of them dont leave wills or estates so we have a bunch of Martins in our intimidate area of Gunpowder Creek that we know are related but dont have paper to connect them so we are trying to read anyone else associated with us who left an estate or will to see if martins are mentioned by other families. Getting DNA on them would help for those who appear to be in direct line with the Martins to see if any will actually match other Martins on DNA. No luck so far and why I keep checking the Martin DNA project. Some of them did move to TN, GA, IL, TX, AR.
Isaac was accused of being a tory but claim was not founded. We cant find his rev war records proving it is actually him. None of his family claimed Rev War pension but we know he died sometime before 1816 because of certain court dealings with land in Burke in court transcriptions. Without the actual deeds its hard to say what is going on. Many of our Martins loose their land in Burke by the time we border change over to Caldwell and die with nothing. Some die in the poorhouse and the poorhouse records have not been found.
If we all had complete records we would not be researching HA HA!
