Hi Jill, Thanks for the message Jill. I knew there was supposed to have been a long gone church somewhere above Mt Holly and thought there might be some old time Abernethy members. The Hebron Church in your message must be the one. I didn't really expect that James Abernethy would have "taken up" one corner - what does that mean? I guess this is where we get that James Abernathy drowned in 1785 - I have been wondering about his death. This is some really good information for me. I have some land records that are right on top of this location and in the right time period if you don't have them and I could post them here. I would also like to use your excerpt from "The History of The South Fork Baptist Association" in my family tree record if you don't mind. Is this book in the Lincoln County Library? Also I think I have something on John Oliver who married an Abernethy and was involved in that Catawba River trade and moved to Cape Girardeau Missouri around 1820. I never located his gold mine which was across the river from Charlotte.
