As a follow-up to my original message, it appears many have the same delema I have and find that ancestors from the middle east came to this country having no surname as we know it. In my case, our Frank Abraham's surname was possibly derived from the fact his father's first name was Ibraham. Now, was he given the surname of Abraham by an immigration agent or by his own choice, I really don't know.
Frank's father Ibraham, son of Monsour, was married to Mahaba and they also had son's Ishaac & Karam.Ishaac had a son John who became a doctor in the Montreal area; did he use the last name of Abraham, I don't know. Karam married and is said to have descendants living today in the Edjabra area.
Help from anyone out there will be very much appreciated.
