Hello Steve

Thanks for contacting me.

My line is from Henry Sr --> Thomas --> Joseph. The relationship from Henry Sr --> Thomas is still to be proved.Thomas had several children and he named some of his sons Henry, Gabriel, and Basil, just like Henry Sr.Thomas married Jemima Friend, sister of Sarah Friend, wife of Henry Jr.He was supposedly born in Staunton VA at the time Henry Sr was living there. So it seems very reasonable, but unproven, that Thomas is a son of Henry Sr. He was not mentioned in Henry Sr's will or any other legal docs.

Thomas later moved to KY where there are numerous records on him.He may have moved to IN in the 1820s but thats mainly conjecture. My line moved from KY to southern Ohio (Lawrence/Jackson/Scioto) before moving on to Missouri and points west. Myself, I was born in San Francisco, so that kind of ends the westward movement. I have many 4th cousins in the Estill area of KY and I think in Greenup co.I am in some contact with some of them. There are a lot of Thomas desc out there and they are pretty easy to find. The Estill group holds yearly reunions.Someday I hope to go.

I would really hope that one of your Abrams cousins will join the project.Just because I am in the project does not mean anything until there is a known descendent of Henry to compare by.And my lineage is questioned anyway. This would be an excellent use of the DNA technology.

In the past I have tried very hard to find known male descendents of Henry Sr.Henry Jr had 20 kids (altho I only see names for about 14)and yet I have not been able to find any lineage down to the present.I have talked tomany desc of Hnery Jr but only along female lines.I have had no better luck on the other lines of Henry Sr.I think one of the sons (Reuben?) had no children and I have been similarly frustrated with Gabriel and Basil's lines.

I have also done a fair effort of collecting data on Henry Sr's backgroud (Welsh vs Cornish roots) but I am putting a lot of that on hold until I establish a more direct link from Thomas to Henry.

Perhaps Thomas was an estranged son of Henry and he was left out of the will.Maybe Henry (108 years old) outlived Thomas.Maybe Thomas was an adopted son.Too many maybes.Even if there is a DNA match, it might just indicate other possibilities such as nephew, some sort of cousin, even the remote possibility of a much younger sibling.

Nevertheless it would be very very very helpful if we could enroll your cousins in the project.

There are two other questionable children of Henry. One is son Andrew and the other is daughter Mary Abrams Spencer, who some people also believe might be Henry's sister rather than daughter.I am in contact with some of Andrew's descendents.

What is your line from Henry Jr?

bye
