Dear Michael, Found your message while surfing on the internet. According to our pedigree, the first aberson was listed around 1650 in the Eastern Part of the Netherlands. His name was Lodewick Aberson.
There is quite a list of Aberson's in the Netherlands, and I am doing research to find our where we came from.
Most of the Dutch Aberson's think we originate from Scotland, as during the early 1600 Scottish regiments amongst them officers with the name Aberson joined the protestant low-countries forces to fight the Roman Katholic Spanish rulers. I traced in the meantime the oldest Aberson sofar. She is Apoline Aberson and married in 1578 in St.Dunstan church in East London-England.
The Aberson family is listed in the "Blue Book" of only 1700 patriarch families in the Netherlands, and we have our own coat of arms.
During my studies in Sweden (Forestry) in the sixties, I have tried to find out if there were any Aberson's in Sweden, however I found no indications. But its almost certain we are of Celtic origin.
There are many lawyers, protestant ministers, farmers and builders in the lists of professions. If you need more info pls. contact me kind regds. Hein Aberson "De Venne" Alteveersweg 42 8392 MA BOIJL (Friesland) Netherlands tel.0561-421104
