Cajun accordionist Nathan Abshire was born in Gueydan, LA 27 Jun 1913.His most famous recording was "Pine Grove Blues," based on fellow Cajun musician Columbus Frugé’s earlier recording, "Tite negresse."Abshire recorded for several labels, including Swallow, Folkways, La Louisianne, & Kajun.He died 13 May 1981, in Basile, LA.Abshire helped to revive Cajun culture by representing it at numerous folk & music festivals. Nathan is buried in St Augustine Cemetery, Basile, LA.
