The story I have goes as follows - JOHN ATCHISON had an UNCLE named GEORGE ATCHISON who lived in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. One day he came for a visit to Scotland. He advised his relations to come to America for free land. So in June of 1862, John along with his PARENTS AND A BROTHER took passage on the ship William Rathbone going from Liverpool, England to Quebec, Canada. Then the family went on to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. For seven years John worked on the Grand Trunk Railway, during this time he married ELIZA SIDDLE, they lived in Georgetown. About 1874 they they headed west via Sault Ste. Marie to Duluth, MN then toward North Dakota where the eventually settled near Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.
JOHN & ELIZABETH SIDDLE from England, not sure where though, were in Stratford, Canada in 1849 when Eliza was born. Then they appear in Griggs Co., North Dakota in the 1885 Dakota Territory Census.
I'm looking for the PARENTS AND BROTHER of John and any more info on the Siddle's. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.
