Me too - descended from Henry & Catherine's oldest son, James Jackson Achord and searching for 7 years now. At busy Xmas time I copied a message posted on the Ancestry message board (I thought) re Catherines's maiden name possibly being Brown. See below ===== from Ancestry Message BoardSubmitter:Donnie Marcum Subject: Re: Achords Message:I've been told Henry's wife Catherine was a Brown, but have not been able to prove this...but it may be true because the women are said to be Healers/Shamans. ====== I can not find this message again to try to contact the submitter to see if there might be more info.Does anyone know how we might find her/him?or what the reference to shamans/healers might have to do with the surname Brown? There are a lot of Achord-Brown marriages in the Louisiana Achord branch but it is such a common surname who can tell if there might be a connection to Catherine's family?
I agree with Floreda (Hi Cuz hope all is well with you) that Henry & Catherine were probably married prior to 1815 when James Jackson was born in GA. indicating a likely GA marriage, or I have speculated that maybe Henry met Catherine in N.C. (her birthplace) while serving in the War of 1812 and married her there. They were undoubtedly married before arrival in LA in 1820.I have a couple of other questions I'd like to throw out to the list for discussion but realize this is getting too long so will do that later.
