Re: Jean Reid Acker upstate NY obit info
Glad to help.I did some preliminery research last night and came up with a couple of possibilities. I found a Charles Levi Acker who was married to an Adeline Pellman. They had a daughter, Alvira Helen born in Dec. 1895 in OK.Id Pellman one of your family names?if so this could be your Charles Acker.if it is, I suspect he is a descendent of Levi Acker, one of the sons of Albert Acker and Sarah hart Acker.I also found a Charles H. Acker who was living in Sparta Twp., Livingston County in 1920.He was 41 then. Also in the federal census from 1920, living in Avon in Livingston county was a Charles J. Acker age 65.The 1860 census has a Charles Acker, no age given, living in North Dansville, Livingston County. Are any of these possibilities?
Regarding the military files for Frederick Acker, there is an address, even a URL where you can request a form to request military files.I will try and find it and get it to you. The office that sends out the forms should be able to answer questions about desertion. It was fairly common, especially during the Civil war.I'll keep you posted. One lead I might suggest is that you look for children and grandchildren of Franklin Merrion Acker, son of Silas Acker and Phoebe Carnes Acker.Charles and Frederick might be his sons or grandsons.Regards, Geof Acker
