Re: Acker Jacob Germany>PA>VA>IN
I have two male Ackers I am trying to trace, Jacob and George Acker, who were the youngest children of Joh. Heinrich Acker (aka Henry Acker), and were born circa 1778 and 1783 in Shenandoah Co., VA. Since their father and mother died before they were grown, they were place under the guardianship of John Wehrly (various spellings), husband of their older sister, Magdalena Acker. This is recorded in Augusta Co., VA circa 1815. Magdalena Acker Wehrly died in Preble Co., OH in 1850 and is buried at the Petry-Wehrly Cemetery there. Her husband, said to have died the same year, has no known grave, but of course it may have disappeared within the same cemetery.
There are a few Aker (Acre, Acker) listings in census and other recpords there, and more in Fairfield Co., OH. Brothers and descendants are prominent in Randolph Co., IN and less so in Wayne Co., IN The pump-making business is prominent among most of them. Do you know anything about any of this?
