Louise Evelyn Ann Hofstadter obituary submitted
Louise Evelyn Ann Hofstadter was born on June 21, 1912, on the family farm west of Currie, Minnesota, to John and Catherine Puhl Ackerman. The family moved to Ladysmith, Wisconsin for a short time before returning to the Currie area. Louise grew up on the farm and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary High School. On November 27, 1928, she and Leo Hofstadter were married in Currie. Following their marriage they farmed in Mason Township, Murray County, Minnesota west of Currie, then northeast of Currie on the Hockenhall farm. They later moved to the O’Neil Farm northeast of Currie for 11 years. In 1943, they bought a farm north of Dovray, Minnesota and raised their seven children. Leo passed away on November 30, 1985. Louise remained on the farm until December 8, 2007, when she became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there on January 28, 2008, at the age of 95. She was a member of the Immaculate of Heart of Mary Church in Currie. Louise was a lifelong member of the Council of Catholic Women. She also was past president of W.C.C.W, and a group leader. Louise was involved in 4-H for many years. Louise enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her seven children and their spouses: Dolores and Bob Schmitt, Dovray, MN; Dorothy Ruppert, Currie, MN; Darlene and Duane Farrell, Balaton, MN; Leone and Frank Arendt, Cottage Grove, MN; Evelyn and John Lund, Edina, MN; Leo Jr. and Leslie Hofstadter, Currie, MN; and Mary and Ed Sweetman, Currie, MN; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Lita Clarke, Fulda, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo Hofstadter; one grandson Ben Farrell; one brother Leo Ackerman; and one sister Laura Jackels.
Funeral services were held at Immaculate of Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Friday, February 1, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Robert Horihan officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader was LoAnn Hansen. The pallbearers were grandchildren Kenneth Schmitt, Karl Ruppert, Mark Farrell, Jeffrey Arendt, Erick Brandt, and Nathan Hofstadter. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Currie, MN.
