Re: James Septimus Ackis[s], SC, b1844
Yes I know of this Ackis and have been searching for years for someone else that knows of him. You will have to forgive me for right now I can only tell u a few things cuz I have just recently moved and have not gotten my genealogy stuff back out but I will start doing so in the next couple of days. He was my ggg grandfather and I know that he was in Brookes Light Artillery along with his brother Richard William Ackis (which was killed at Ghettysburg on the 3rd day in Picketts Charge) I also know that James got wounded in that same battle along with his brother and was shot by a miniball through the chin and it exited at the throat then he was left on the battlefield and taken to a barn along with several other dying and wounded by the Union soilders where he stayed for 3 days without any medical attention and then they took him to (I can't remember right now but will get 4 u) where he said they took very good care of him. I'll have to get back with u after I look over some things, I'm sorry I can't remember much more right now but it is 2:30 in the am. I do promise that I won't leave u hanging. If you have any info it would be GREATLY appreciated.
