Re: ACKLEY'S OF ROSS AND VINTON COUNTIES
I am looking for a Betsy Ackley who married Daniel Peggs in the area of Washington/Monroe Co., OH around the year 1830.In 1830, Daniel Pegg was living close to a Nicholas Ackley in Monroe Co.Nicholas was in his 40s and Daniel Pegg was in his 30s.
I think Daniel Pegg and Betsy Ackley either divorced or Daniel died.I am certain of one child they had and her name is Matilda Peggs.Matilda later married Thomas FOGLE and lived in Noble Co., OH.In the 1900 census for THomas and Matilda Fogle, a Martha Pegs is listed as the sister in law of Thomas Fogle. So, I assume Martha (b. abt 1844) is also a child of Daniel and Betsy Ackley Peggs.Matilda Peggs was born in March 1832.
I am trying to figure out who the parents of Betsy Ackley were. Was she a daughter of Daniel Ackley and Ascenith?
Betsy was born sometime around 1811 in NY (according to her census information). In 1850, whe is living with Richard Balis (age 38) and his wife Nancy (age 31).Next door is a David Peggs (who is living with Russell Ackley, age 66, b. in CT).I think that David was probably another son of Daniel adn Betsey Ackley Peggs. In 1860, Betsy is living with Elihu Wheeler (age 49, b. in ME) and his wife Harriet whose maiden name was Fogle. In 1870, Betsy is living with Elisha Fogle (age 69, b. in OH) and his wife Maranda (maiden name MERRY).Betsy must have died between 1870 and 1880 as she is not listed in the 1880 census.
You mentioned that you had a copy of Daniel Ackley's will and I am wondering if any Peggs are mentioned in it. I would love to see a copy!
Any help would be appreciated.
