Re: robert ingram of beverley, yorkshire
Rupert, I have been working on a family history of the Acklom/Ingram/Johnson family of Yorkshire for the past two years. I obtained a poor photocopy of a hand written family diary from a relative in UK. This diary was written in an anecdotal style and so we have been transcribing it onto the computer and trying to put into correct chronological order. There is an entry for Robert Ingram but at this stage I don,t think the entry is complete. Here is the info I have so far.
Robert INGRAM Born 25th March 1807, 7:30am at Seagrave in Yorkshire. First vicar of Chatburn.
Henry(Sir) INGRAM, Created Lord Irvine 1661.Henry Ingram for his loyalty to Charles the first was created Viscount and Baron May 3rd 1661, by Charles the second. Bought the Manors of Temple Newsham in Yorkshire and was High Sherriff of that county in 1619. His son was Arthur and two others, George canon of Windsor and William a merchant of Holland. Arthur had seven sons (according to Mr Acklom).
Other accounts say Henry had two sons, Edward and Arthur. That Henry was succeeded by Edward who had seven sons Three or four of these had the title from whom it descended to Charles son of the sixth.
It appears that the Robert belongs in this line but so far I don't have all the ancestors detailed. The diary I'm working from does have some gaps and the family's fondness for using the same names repeatedly over many generations also adds to the confusion. I do have more info on the Ingram family If you are interested. I am also an Ingram descendent. Please let me know if I can help you further and I would be interested in any info you have on the family. Best Wishes, Deborah Wiseman.
