Re: Nathan K. Acre
My grandmother was Annie Acre, who married Oliver Frank Mowrer; she died about 1962 in Burlington, Skagit Co., Washington. I'd love to know more about any Acre family that can be traced back to Alsace. Could you post or little more info or send a little to me? I'd thought our Acre family was French, but Alsace is also French -- sort of.
There's a folk song sung in the Alsatian German dialekt that goes, "Elsass, Elsass Land, bischt du Deitsch oder bischt du Franzoos?" (Alsace, Alsace land, are you German or French?).
formerly of Puyallup and Seattle, Wash., presently of Wiesloch near Heidelberg, Germany.
(I'm a rookie in Acre research).
