I tried to e-mail you with the listed e-mail address... but it came back undeliverable. So here is the message that I tried to send you.
The information i have about Joseph acre came from the "History of Butler County" It stated that Augustus Acre moved to Winfield township with his father Joseph in 1836. Joseph died in 1837. Augustus bought his farm for about 5 dollars an acre.
I knew that the Acre's lived in Butler county. Now that I knew they lived in
Winfield township, I began doing searches on the internet about winfield township. I couldn't find anything. It was like it never existed. I couldn't
find in on any maps or in and directories. Well I came to finaly find out that Counties were split up into a grid of townships. I guess these wern't like the townships like we have today. In discovering this I found a map of butler county with all of it's townships. Then I cam accross a land map of winfield township and the township just south of it. They were dated of the late 1800's it think. I forget the exact year. On it were (presumably) the names of the owners of the land. A. Acre was on there along with about a half a dozen other names of people that I'm related too. If you like I can e-mail these pics to you. There arn't many road names on them, but I was able to nail down the current location of where the A. Acre appeares on the map. I visited there and is is all still very rural, but it isn't as much farm land as it most likely once was. I also have documentation that augustus and mary were burried at Boggsville Cemetery. I couldn't find any record of the cemetery anywhere. I would assume that it was near winfield township. I would also venture a guess that Joseph might also be burried there. If so, it might have his birth date and full name on it.
I mean to go back to butler county and go to their records hall. I would like to look up some birth/death certificates. People of that age didn't usualy travel to far. So I'm also asuming that what ever happened to Josephs
wife... she would maybe have lived in the same area. With a death certificate for Augustus, it should list both birth parents.
Anyway, I hope this information was at least interesting if not helpful. :) Keep in touch. Sorry it took me so long to write back.
