Hi Cynthia - we communicated a few years ago.I had also exchanged e-mails with Rolfe.Better late then never - and perhaps you have this info already.
DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO FROM JOHN WILLIAM ACRES BACK TO THE ACRES IMMIGRANT?I am trying to trace my husband's ancestry of each family line back to the immigrant ancestors.Savage has a Henry Acres in Newbury, MA abt 1674 and a John Acres 1656 in Muddy River, now Brookline, MA
ACRES - ANCESTORS OF JOHN JAMES SHIELS
The Acres family resided first in Boston, Suffolk, MA in the early 1820's and possibly before. I am still searching for the Immigrant ancestor. I have confirmed that our Acres lineage goes back to
John William Acres, a sailmaker in Boston. More research is needed to verify that he is the son of George T and Hannah (French) Acres, as someone has purposed and I have shown here.
John William Acres and wife Eliza Ann Bellamy are the known progenerators of the very large Acres family of Malden, Middlesex, MA. They had 4 children known born in Chelsea, MA 1878-1882; a daughter Nina born 1885, location unknown; then 6 children known born in Malden 1887-1904. Thus they brought the Acres family to Malden before 1887.
The Index of Marriages in MA Centinel & Columbian Centinel
1784-1840, pub in the CC 10/31/1818. pg 12: On 31 Oct 1818 George T ACRES married Hannah FRENCH, in Boston, Suffolk, MA.
They had a son JOHN W Acres: and perhaps others.
