Hi Rolfe,
It has been sometime since we have communicated.
I have been working on the ACRES family of Greater Boston and wonder if you have any more data to add.

My husband descends from John William Acres (b <1823> - d 9/11/1888 Malden, Middlesex, MA)
He married Elizabeth Anne "Eliza" Bellamy, 3/26/1843 in the Phillip's Trinitarian Church in Boston, MA.
They are also the parents of your Etta Acres.

I think that
John William is the son of George T Acres (died prob bef the 1855 census and Hannah French. (<1880> - 1/8/1888)

Information that Eliza Bellamy is the daughter of Charles W Bellamy and Sarah B Collyer came originally from you.I have nothing else.

And this is where I have been stuck for some time.

The Essex Antiquarian shows many spellings of the name: Acres, Acars, Ackers, Ackres, Akers and there are additional spellings of Ackerman and Ayers.

I have keyed in on
John Acres / Akers 1632/3 - 1713 Boston who married Desire Ye Truth Thorne as a possible ancestor of our Acres family ofGreater Boston.
Records indicted they were in Muddy River (now Brookline), MA 1656.
They were admitted into the Roxbury Church in 1666 and were dismissed to the Dunstable Church in 1686.
Between 1664 - 1679 they had 6 children [sp ACKERS] baptised in Roxbury; and 2 daughters were born in Dunstable in 1682 & 1684.
It is noted that John Acres / Akers returned to Boston in 1695 and died 1/16/1713.
They had 2 sons and 6 daughters.
son John Ackers bapt Roxbury 8/10/1673
son William Ackers bapt Roxbury 5/19/1679

A William AKERS is listed at Muddy River in the 1790 Census: 3 males over age 16; 1 male under 16; 5 females.
That is as far as I have gone trying to work from immigrant down.

I would appreciate your thoughts and any data that you may have accumulated in the last few years re Acres, etc,

Looking forward to hearing from you
CAROL
