Re: William Acton m. Charity Grindstaff
Beth, How great that you posted so much on the Acton family. I noticed you did not have the names of the children of Martha (Patsy)Acton and Jesse Wharton. They are my g-g-grandparents. I would like to add their children:
1. Sarah-b- abt 1835- Al
2. Nancy-b- "1837-"
3. Martha-b- "1839-"
5. Stephen-b- " 1844"
6. William-b- " 1846Ms.
8. Lucinda Josephine-b-March 31, 1851-Newton Co. Miss.(my G-grandmother)
9. Amanda-b-" 1854Ms.
Lucinda Josephine Wharton married William Edwin Bailey on October 24, 1867 in Newton Co. Ms. They were married by Ned Bailey, a preacher of the C.P/ Church. William said he went to Decatur in Newton Co. Mississippi after the marriage license. Decatur is 75 miles S.E. of Sebastopol in Scott County Ms. They moved to Texas within a year after being married.Their first child William Ezekiel was born in Dallas County, Texas on Feb. 21, 1869. He was my grandfather. I keep seeing where the Acton and Bailey families keep inter-marring. The best that I can figure is that Lucinda Josephine Wharton's husband,William Edwin Bailey, was the son of a William Bailey that was born in S.C. about 1810. His mothers name is unknown to me. Can anyone tell me who the elder William Bailey's first wife was and what line of Bailey's do they come from.I have felt for years that these Acton-Wharton-Bailey families may have some kinship before William married Lucinda Josephine. Any help would be appreciated. Would also like to know who Ned Bailey was and if they were kin. Thanks Ruby
