Re: Acton Family in Alabama books
I bought Faye's book last year as I heard the birthdate of my Samuel Hannah was in it. He married 2nd, Nancy Acton, daug. of Aaron Acton. It was there (my confirming proof) and a bit about the family, but much to my surprise there was a letter over 100 yrs old (1888) from Nancy in Johnson Co.TX to her sister, Martha back in Ala.She described the crops that they had put in. She was quite proud of her Irish Potatoes! They were only in debt for the new horse they had to buy; in debt for $30! I guess that was quite a bit back then. The thing that really got to me was what looked like a tin-type picture of Nancy and her son, Willey (WJ=William Jasper). I was astonished as he looked just like my husband at age 12!What a family resemblence! It was so wonderful to get a 100 yr. old letter and picture that I never expected to find in Faye's book. Now I wish I could have the tin-type and original letter. Greedy aren't I!! The book is choc full of photos and stories. She did an awful lot of work! Thanks, to Faye we have a wonderful history!Linda in Albuq.
