George Acton & Sarah E. (McQuerry) Acton
Died at his home two miles northeast of Westerville, of heart disease, April 9,1901, Deacon George Acton. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, August 1, 1824 and died aged 76 years, 8 months and 8 days. When six years old he moved with his parents to Montgomery County, Indiana. Here he was converted and joined the Baptist Church, thus early commencing a devoted Christian life. Brother Acton married Sarah E. McQuerry in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, in 1848. As parents there were born to them eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Of this number, the following survive: John, Silas, Uriah, William and Mrs. Mary Brammer, with thirteen grandchildren.
Deceased settled near Batavia in 1863 and five years after, moved with his family to Richland Township. Here he became a member of the Camden Church and was a true believer in that old time religion. Funeral services were conducted by Reverend F. Edwards, a former pastor and old time friend, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Camden Cemetery. The aged wife who survives with the children and grandchildren, need and are entitled to the prayers and sympathy of the community and church. May the Angel of Peace comfort them.
