Re: AARON ACTON b. 1820 KENTUCKY
I am interested in your Acton family.I am looking for James A. Acton b. c. 1800-10.He was a horse trader according to a tax list in Franklin co. KY.He married Mary Jane Martha Crockett of Bridgeport, Franklin Co. KY.
I have a lot on the Crockett family but I cannot find any link to an Acton family for James A. Acton.I have always thought that the A. stood for Aaron but this is not verified.
James A. Acton died sometime between 1840-50.I can find no burial site for him and no records to help me.He had two children with Mary Crockett:William Dandridge and Mary Jane. Not sure about the girl's name...can't find my papers on this family at this time.
I know that there were Actons in Pulaski Co. KY but I don't seem to connect to them.
James A. Acton's son is our line.He joined the CSA as a Captain of the 5th Regiment, KY Company. He was released from active duty on May 10, 1865 in Washington, Wilkes Co. GA.He never returned to KY. His maternal grandfatherwas the executor of the estate of James A. Acton until his death in c. 1856.His uncle, Anthony Crockett, then became executor.
Any help would be appreciated...hints, clues, facts, guesses, etc. Thanks for your time.Nora
