"Rev. Patrick Adair continued to minister in Cairncastle till 13 Oct. 1674, when he was installed at Belfast. Accompanied Rev. John Abernethy to London in 1689 to congratulate and encourage William, Prince of Orange; was also one of the deputation who welcomed the Prince on his arrival at Belfast in June 1690."
Some American descendants show Thomas Adair as bc1679 in Genoch, Scotland. Would there be any records of a birth of Thomas Adair c.1679 in Belfast ?Thankyou.
Perhaps Thomas or his children emigrated firstly to New Castle County, Delaware ? There was a William Gregg bc1642 Glenarm Barony, Antrim, d.prior 1687 who emigrated Oct 1682 to Strand Mills, Brandywine Creek, nr Centerville, (Christina Hundred ?) New Castle Delaware.Glenarm was near Cairncastle, co Antrim.
In the 1668 Hearth Tax FHL film 596417 #3755 p.2. there was an Arch. Adare of Glenarm Town, Co. Antrim and in 1666 #3753 p.3. there was an Archibald Adare at Ardclinis. Between Larne and Glenarm are the ruins of Carin Castle.
Any information on the children of Rev. Patrick Adair previously of Cairn Castle, co. Antrim, appreciated. Thankyou.
