I am not related to this family, but thought I would mention the following info I came across:
Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries, Inc. 60 East 56th Street, 4th Floor New York, N.Y. 10022 Tel: (212) 753-6421, Fax: (212) 753-6429 E-Mail: - email@example.com -
On December 12, 1997 the auction house above, under Autographs, U.S. Postal History and Foreign Stamps & Covers, carried out Sale # 797 - Presidential Autographs & Free Franks (Lots 1001-1051), which included a letter dated Apr 27, 1822 from John Quincy Adams to "John Adair at Frankfort Ky" . This was a so-called "free frank" (postage-free) letter, signed by J.Q. Adams as Secretary of State. In 1997 its suggested sale value was $625.
Is this John Adair at Frankfort KY in 1822 the man who became Governor of Kentucky ?
