MRS. NANCY WOOD, whose maiden name was DAFT, was born in Augusta County, Virginia, August l9th, l8l6, and died at the home of her daughter MRS. T.B. ADAIR, near Woodland, Iowa, May 23, l90l, aged 84 years, 9 months and 4 days.She was married to HENRY WOOD, June l2, l833.To them were born nine children, six of whom are still living.The living children are: MRS. ELIZABETH MELTON, of Gallia County, Ohio; MRS. LUCINDA REYNOLDS, of Wayne County, Indiana; MRS. MARY A. BRIGHT, of Lineville, Iowa; JOHN WOOD and NAOMI ADAIR, of Woodland, and W.W. WOOD, of Weldon, Iowa.
She removed with her husband from Virginia to Gallia County, Ohio, in l838, from there to Wayne County, Indiana, in l855, and to Decatur County, Iowa, in l860.Her husband died in l865, since which time she has made her home with her youngest son, W.W. WOOD.
She united with the Baptist Church about thirty years ago, and later with the Advent Christian Church at Woodland, of which she was a member at the time of her death.She was a woman of piety and a faithful student of the Bible.At her request her funeral service was conducted by Y.U. Moore, from the l5th Chapter of lst Corinthians.The interment being at the Union Cemetery, where she was laid to rest beside her husband and son, JACOB.
The children and grandchildren desire to thank their many friends for their kindness to them during the sickness and death of their loved one and to especially thank Mrs. G.W. Warner for the many acts of kindness by which she made the days more pleasant for Grandma during the three years she lived near her.
