I am searching for Benjamin Adair, the tenth of thirteen children born to William and Martha Jane (Cutler) Adair in Mosa Township, Ontario, Canada. William was the son of John and Phoebe (Mills)Adair, a loyalist who arrived in Canada from New Jersey in 1795. As the son of a Loyalist, William was given a grant of Land in Mosa Township which he settled in 1824. He stayed on the land until 1841 when the family moved to Lambeth in Middlesex County. Benjamin, according to my information, was born in 1835 but by the time of the 1851 census. when he would have been 16, he had already left home. In the 1871 and 1881 census a Carey B(in the former) and Carabell (in the latter) Adair appears in the home of Peter and Orpha (Adair) McNames. Orpha is a sister of Benjamin. In neither of these census is the relationship of the parties listed noted. However, I believe that it is probable that Carey B is Orpha's niece. In 1886 a Carrie Bell Adair married a John W. Wilkinson (Ontario Marriage Registration # 007038-86). This Carrie Bell gives her age as 21 making it possible that she is the person listed in the two census mentioned above. She (Carrie Bell) says that her parents are Benjamin and Ann Adair and that she was born in Westminister Township, Middlesex County, Ontario. Also, one of the witnesses to this marriage was an Elmer Doyle, who, if the relationships I have surmised are correct, would be her first cousin as Elmer Doyle was the son of Benjamin and Derinda (Adair) Doyle. Would anyone have any information about Benjamin Adair?
