Hi, all!I'm descended from Bozeman Adair as well, and have been struggling with the search for info on his ancestors as well.I did stumble across a piece of information on a land transaction:
In Montgomery Co., N.C.: "Dec. 29, 1794: Bozamon Adare to William Crittendon for 100 pounds, 140 acres on Lick Branch, joining John Smith,Thomas Naron, William Whitfield.Wit. Whitmill Harrington, James Bankston"
So it seems that Bozeman was at the very least superficially acquainted with Whitmill Harrington of North Carolina. It would seem odd that he would name one of his sons Whitmill Harrington Adair if there wasn't some kind of family connection (although stranger things have happened). Also, W. H. Adair's grandson, John Alexander Whitmill Adair (my ggrandfather) bears not only the "Whitmill" name, but suggests that an ancestor was named Alexander, which would tend to support the line shown by Dale Loudermilk.
I've also been wrestling with the various contradictory accounts of Bozeman's grandfather. There is enough evidence to believe that his parents were William Adair m. Sarah Ann (Scott?), but that's where it breaks down. I would like to think that William's father (and Bozeman's grandfather) was William Adair (b.1719), but there seems to be too many contraditions.
Have there been any more revelations on these lines? Thanks for any info.
