I have been tracing the family for about 6 years now.
Here is the information that I have acquired. Robert Vinson Adair was born in Dacatur county Iowa on November 14, 1836. His wife was from Auglaize County, Ohio and was born on November 8, 1834. Cynthia Ellen Corder Adair moved to Wayne County Iowa in April of 1957. In the Orphan Home Records of Andrew Iowa the following was found: a document dated July 16, 1869 confirmed a need for public support for their children, who are as follows.
An agreement dated August 5, 1869 released four of the children Pastor J.M. Schueller: Eliza Jane born November 18, 1859 William Milton born March 9, 1861 Mary Emelia born December 7, 1862 Sarah Elizabeth born July 16, 1864
The two oldest boys were taken into the home of Clyde adn Henry Woods, near Maquoketa: John Andrew born August 1, 1857 George Wheatly born November 18, 1858
Two younger boys, born in Jackson County were Robert Johnson Adair born March 5, 1866 Elijah Adiar born October 10, 1865- died June 3, 1869
Robert Vinson Adair was injured in the Civil War and came home to Jackson County where he died December 6, 1868 from the injuries he sustained in the battle. He was 32 when he passed. His final resting place is in Esgate Cemetery in Jackson Cuonty, Iowa.
Cynthia remairred after her husbands death. Her final where abouts are unknown (but I'm still searching). She was of Irish decent.
