Fran, My grandfather is Gentry Bowden Adair, son of Spencer Boyd Adair(bn 1839 Graves Co, KY) and Stacey Rucker (bn Bedford Co, TN). Spencer is a son of John Adair(bn Nov 16, 1796 Greenville Co, SC-June 4, 1878 Graves Co, KY) and Margaret Wilson. They show up in the 1820 Weakley Co, TN census, and from then on in the Graves Co, KY census, in Lynnville. According to KY Footsteps article on Spencer's brother Turner, and the LDS, John was the son of James Adair and Eleanor Ewin, son of Joseph Adair and Sarah Dillard, son of Joseph and Sarah Laferty. It seems this could now be in dispute. Spencer's sister, Sarah Ann Adair, married Dr. James Blythe. Armel Story(bn c 1806) is the son of John Story bn 1761, son of William Story. They moved to Livingston Co, KY (parent county, Christian) in the lated 1700s and were in Laurens Co, SC on the 1790 census. Armel had a brother, Arnett. Some of Arnett's descendants lived in Pontatock, Mississippi. Also, a John Story and John Rutledge were obligers of trader, William Blythe of Lancaster Co, PA.Thomas Story, was an Indian trader in Chester Co, PA and executed his bond to William Blythe of Lancaster Co, PA. Also, a John Story married Lucy Grey, a Cherokee), daughter of James Grey. My Margaret Wilson's mother, Elizabeth McClure is daughter of James McClure, bc 1725 N IRE and Isabella Grey bc 1724 N IRE- Jan 25, 1812. My sister in law's father, a Miller born in Calloway Co, KY now seems also to have come through James Adair and Eleanor's daughter, Aseneth....It is becoming very strange.
