David, we corresponded brielfly on this genforum before. I discovered my husband's ancestor was a James Adair born 15 May 1752 & was married to Hannah who is buried in the Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church Cem. He is known as James Adair, Sr. & was a RW veteran. I am trying to learn who his real father was. I have seen many genealogies posted over the internet & don't think they are right. I'm thinking James may be a son of James Adair Sr. who married Eleanor; no will can be found for either of them. In 1780 three James Adairs signed Col. James Wms. petition. James Adair, Sr. James Adair, Jr. "son of James" & another James Adair. I know Joseph Adair Sr. had a son name James Adair so I believe the James Adair was his son; was also in the Rev. but don't know who he served under or anything. I believe the other James Adair, Jr. "son of James" was our James born 1752 who later became James Adair, Sr. after his father died. Still I wonder who James Adair, Sr. was? Was he the James Adair Indian trader b: c 1709 who died in N.C. I know he was in Lrs. County by 1751 or was James Adair Sr. another James? It is so confusing to me with all these James'. Do you know much about the James Adair History & Genealogy by James Barnett Adair. Been told there were errors in his book. Hope to hear from you once again.
