"James Addair, Sr. first appears in Montgomery Co., Virginia in 1773. His 1st wife was Annis Harbison (better proof is needed.) He had 3 children by his 1st marriage - James, Jr., Thomas, and Jane. Thomas married Elizabeth Kirby and Jane married John Kirby (Kearby) children of Richard Kirby of Blount Co., Tenn. During the Revolution, the Kirbys were in the area of Henry Co., Virginia, later in Surrey Co., N.C. and then in Blount Co. Two daughters of Jane and John Kirby married Millers and remained in Virginia, while the remaining children were in Blount Co., Tenn. and some moved to Alabama. Thomas & Elizabeth had 4 children, Sally who died in infancy, Jane b. 1795, Barbara b. 1804, and James who died in the military (possibly the War of 1812)."
James Trabue, the gentleman who posted the above message, did most of the research on this family - there is more online in this forum as well as the rootsweb forum.
