In the Trinity College Dublin Register of Students - "Alumni Dublinenses" there is an entry on p.2 : John Adair, Pen. (paid his own way) born co. Down (c.1647) previously educated by (Rev.) Dr. Hill, Dublin. Entered 26 March 1663-4 aged 17 ; son of Andrew .
I had thought that my Andrew Adair of co. Longford, Ireland may have been stationed in co. Down at that time, but it now appears that there may have been another Andrew Adair, of Donaghadee or nearby.
Wonder if he was connected to Andrew Adair of Little Genoch who may have been from "a younger son of Kilhilt family", i.e. Rev. William Adair of Ayr, Scotland (bc.1605 ?) younger brother of Sir Robert Adair ?
Is there a marriage c.1646 for an Andrew Adair bc.1626 ?
Perhaps there may be more information in the book about Rev. William Adair and the Auld Kirk of Ayr ?
Getting back to the headstone - looks as if there may have been an Adair marriage to a Hamilton in co. Down ?
