English Dominion.
p.411. No. 18. From Robert Adair, London 22 Aug 1765.
"Sir. I have taken this opportunity to Write to
Governor Johnston, informing him I ............ "
Governor George Johnstone (1730-1787) of West Florida
stood bond for the licence of James Adair, fur trader and author, about the time the above letter was written.
Adair praised Johnstone in his book.
George Johnstone was M.P. for Appleby, Westmoreland, 1775.
James Adair, Recorder of London, was M.P. for Cockermouth in place of George Johnstone (?).

They were both in parliament (1775) about the time James Adair was in London having his book published, and they were possibly voting about policies in America.
George Johnstone's ancestors may have lived near Adairs in Scotland ?
It is possible that James Adair may have contacted George Johnstone in London.
